After more rough arching, I finally squared the edges up for the purfling
these are the tools used on the purfling platform and arching
finally starting to take shape
the arching is not as full on the outer ections as the wood was cut poorly and very thin on one side
using a 5mm allen key to set the outer purfling line
using offcuts to have a test on how this is going to work
the outer purfling line is now marked
now after a tool reset the inner line is marked
the purfling line around the lower bout
using a strip of purfling I marked the line under the button and started cleaning out the groove
by going in stages the groove is lowered bit by bit
I have to say, hand purfling a cello back sucks. After 5 hours I still have to clean more out of the lower bout grooves.
