the edges need trimming before anything so with a compass I marked a line all the way around the plate

to get it to work I had to lengthen the lead and the pointer

for the start the line is 9mm

this is really slow using a gouge to carve the wood around the sides

a slow job

this c-bout is getting down

now for somthing different I thought about trying the plane to remove some excess wood

after 4 hours I got to this level

a lot of hard work is ahead of me as this is tough work

this edge is just above the pencil line
