planing the top of the front plate which will help me see if the joint is working well

holding the plate half down on a shooting board is really hard but this approach worked really well

the square shows how much wood needs to be removed to make the joint a right angle

I clamped the wood down with just enough overhang to square the joint but no more
|
warming things up in preperation to glue the joint. I actually made the glue to thick and had to pop the joint back apart and redo it the next day. THIS IS HARD!!!

This is the second time I glued the joint, a lot better this time!

This is the next day after the glue had set and I am pretty happy with this joint
