Cutting the rough end of the lump of spruce
to stop the wood splitting I spun it around and finished the cut from the other side
here you can see the rough end that I cut off
now to be safe I added an extra 10mm to the height of the block, just in case
now that the block is cut out I mark the thickness all around to give me an idea of how much to remove
sqauring off the end of the block with my new plane!
that extra 10mm was way too much overhang to plane off so I cut off 8mm of it
looking pretty square from here
and sqaure from here (a bit like me)
now plane it down to give the right thickness. this plane is really nice to use
the finished endblock, this one is for the endpin end
