with the plane blade set extra fine all that was coming off the edges was dust

the plate is loosely mounted so not to distort it. you can see by the feeler gauge which I used to show

now the edge is looking good and am happy with it

this time after doing a rubbed joint I put the clamps on but only lightly tightened them

this time the joint looks acceptable

it is just as good from the other side
