using a set of dividers to mark out the saddle area
with a knife and steel rule cut the line of the saddle into the wood though cutting across the spruce lines is really hard
after slowley trimming down the wood it is at the right depth and width but as usual it is not perfectly straight!
these are the tools used to cut the saddle seat
now the saddle which has already been trimmed a bit is put in for checking
after more trimming with sharp objects and needle files it is at a level I am happy with
my first saddle ready to be glued in
now this was awkward, trying to keep the peg reamer anywhere near straight
I managed to chip the varnish on all the peg holes but will later touch them up a bit
using an old piece of pine with a reamed hole to drill the string hole and cut the end of the peg off
after cleaning up the ends the pegs are finished
you can see where I chipped the varnish here, most was done by having to re-drill the holes bigger as the pilot holes where to small for the reamer
